“I just have to check my phone,” he said and kept scrolling through the display.

After a while, he looked up. There was a thick layer of dust on the table, and the floor was all cracked up. He could barely see through the windows and into the back yard, which was overgrown. On his way through the house, he caught a glimpse of himself in an old mirror. His clothes were ragged, and he had a huge beard and long hair. At the front door, he found the skeleton of a dog with a leash in its mouth.
