“It is like she is not really gone,” He says. “I talk to her all the time. About how my day went. About the weather. About what I am going to have for dinner. About the soccer World Cup, which she is still not interested in. We even argue about what to watch on TV like we used to.”

He puts down his coffee cup on the saucer and leans back on the sofa smiling to himself.

“Dad!” I say “Mom isn’t gone. She just went to the bathroom.”
