“I hate when you do this,” he says and points to the tears running down his face.

She looks at him without a word. She is used to his emotional outbursts and knows it can backfire if she reacts. More than anything, he objects to being handled, and she can’t afford to upset him. She needs him. And the tears are just a passing shower in the finely tuned weather system of his brilliant mind. He will come around.

“So you want me to take over the Williams account?” he asks as he searches his pockets for a tissue.
