“I get so depressed,” she says with glee, “no one visits me anymore.”

“We are here now,” I point out.

“Everyone is so busy,” she says with a sigh, wrapping herself in the warm blanket of the statement.

“We are here now,” I repeat.

“All my friends are dead, but I’m healthy as a horse.” A victorious smile flashes across her face.

“We are here now,” I say, just because.

“Well, you better be going,” she says and looks at the clock. “Tomorrow, Claire is coming by with the grandkids, and on Friday, I’m hosting the bridge game.”
