I have always had a sense that news does not happen until I know about it. That rejection letter could be an acceptance right up til the moment I open the envelope. The exam could have gone fine until I see my grade on the board. I am perfectly healthy up to the point when the doctor calls with my test results. But that is not how it works, is it? News is news. It is independent of whether I know it or not. How I perceive it is up to me.

I liked it better the other way.
