Matriarchs
There are only two kinds of mammals where the females go through menopause and live several decades beyond that. Studies have shown that these grandmothers are crucial to the survival of the species because of their knowledge and experience. The families rely on the matriarchs for leadership and direction, to find the best feeding grounds and to raise the young. These animals are regarded as highly evolved and intelligent for the same reason. Originally, there were three kinds of mammals that revered their post-menopausal females, but humans kept putting old, overweight, albino males in charge and hence went extinct.
