My daughter has a tack box. She used to share it with her friend, Malena, but then Malena moved to Park City, Utah last July. It is one of those big, black boxes that contractors sometimes use for their tools. It says HUSKY and has rulers to measure centimeters and inches on top but my daughter and Malena named it Larry.

We bring Larry along for horse shows away. My daughter has her own space in the tack room at the barn so he does not need to be brought there. She also has a large hook for her saddle in the saddle room. This season there has not been that many horse shows because of the rain. When it rains the footing on most arenas get unsafe for both horses and riders. Then the shows are postponed and now the season is so far along it will be difficult to make up for the missed ones. Then Larry sits either in our garage or to the side of the little walk-up to our front door.

Larry has wheels at one end and a handle that comes out so you can pull him. That helps a lot at the riding shows because Larry gets heavy when he is full of boots for my daughter and her horse and her helmet and extra bridles and saddle pads and tins of leather wax to shine it all up. During the show, Larry also holds her worn out sneakers that she wears at the barn when she is not riding and hard peppermint candy pieces to…
