I really liked your piece, thank you! I procrastinate and it bugs me and it is true that it leads to stress and self-blame which then starts a vicious downward spiral because the pressure to do something meaningful becomes so much bigger. I do however think that the absolute need for a task to serve a specific goal is sometimes overrated and the Elon Musk quote made me think about how I often — to eliminate procrastination and the relentless focus on success — challenge myself to disprove my (of course) brilliant ideas. Mr. Musk has demonstrated the value of this many times over; there is just more information and growth in failure than in success. So while I agree that to overcome procrastination we need goals, those goals do not necessarily have to be defined in terms of success.
