She felt disappointed, but instead of trusting it, she invited her inner-head commentators for a panel discussion. The relentless critic grabbed the microphone and yelled:

“You shouldn’t be so ungrateful. This is what you deserve!”

“She’s right,” her dead mother chimed in. “You settle. Always!”

They almost drowned out the awkward warrior intern whose helmet was too big.

“Isn’t this where you set a loving boundary?” the intern asked and pushed her helmet up.

“NO!” The relentless critic shouted, “You can’t have blame, remember?”

And in the corner sat her inner child, quiet and patient as ever.
